What is SEO?

SEO, or search engine optimization, is the work of making a website easy for search engines to understand and useful enough to rank for the searches your customers make.

  • Also called Search engine optimization

What it means

SEO has three main parts. Technical SEO makes sure search engines can crawl and understand the site: speed, mobile layout, clean URLs, titles, descriptions and structured data. Content SEO means pages that genuinely answer what people search for. Authority comes from other reputable sites linking to yours.

AI search features increasingly quote and summarize pages, which rewards the same things: clear, accurate, well-structured content.

Why it matters for a business

Search is how many customers find a business for the first time. Good SEO brings steady, free traffic, but it takes time. Most gains come from fixing technical basics and publishing useful pages consistently.
