Why it matters
What it does and why it matters
For companies on Microsoft 365, Teams is where conversations happen. Microsoft now offers a Teams MCP server as part of its Work IQ and Agent 365 servers, in preview. An assistant can list chats, teams and channels, read messages, create chats and channels, and post messages and replies.
That supports the same kinds of help as in Slack: summarizing channels, finding decisions and drafting updates.
Microsoft says tool names may change during the preview, and it does not document a Claude Code setup, so a community Microsoft 365 server is noted as an alternative. Access follows your Microsoft account and tenant policies. Involve your Microsoft 365 administrator and start with reading before any posting.

Security
Security considerations
-
Approve outgoing messages
Require a person to approve messages to customers until a workflow is proven.
-
Limit channels
Give access only to the channels, mailboxes or numbers a task needs.
-
Untrusted messages
Incoming messages can contain text meant to mislead an AI. Treat them as data.
-
Keep a log
Keep a record of messages posted, and review preview terms.
